An alternative means of obtaining accreditation is by successfully completing one of the NAATI-approved courses. Various tertiary institutions across Australia offer NAATI-approved courses as follows:

  • Diploma of Interpreting
  • Advance Diploma of Interpreting and/or Translation
  • B.A in Translation and in Interpreting
  • Graduate Diploma in Translation and/or Interpreting
  • M.A in Translation and Interpreting

When the institutions have NAATI approval for these courses, graduates may be recommended to NAATI for accreditation depending on their performance in the final practical examination. Graduates eligible for NAATI Accreditation must submit their application to NAATI within 12 months of the date on their certificate, diploma or degree.

Each year NAATI produces a catalogue of Australian Translation and Interpreting Training Opportunities in Australia. A list of current T&I courses is available in the catalogue of translation and intepreting training opportunities. This catalogue includes the NAATI approved courses as well as a variety of other types of training programs including university research based courses, translation and interpreting courses presented within other tertiary award programs, in-service training provided by some T & I Service Providers, NAATI Test Preparation workshops and continuing professional development workshops. The opportunities listed in the catalogue include information that has been provided to NAATI by the course providers. It is not an exclusive list, but includes those courses made known to NAATI that will be delivered during the current academic year.
