NAATI offers testing at various locations outside Australia. These tests are standard accreditation tests at the Translator and/or Interpreter level that are conducted on demand. Candidates applying for tests at an Overseas location must meet the eligibility criteria.

If you wish to sit a NAATI test outside Australia please follow the instructions set out in the Application for Accreditation by Testing. This document also contains information about overseas testing locations.

Recommended steps to NAATI Accreditation by testing at an Overseas Location

  1. Before sitting for a NAATI test at an overseas location NAATI recommends all candidates purchase the overseas Prospectus Kit. The kit contains preparation products which will help you prepare for the NAATI test.
  2. Study the material in the Prospectus Kit. Work through the Sample Test. If you feel that your standard of translating or interpreting is close to the standard set by NAATI, you may decide to proceed with the test.
  3. Complete the Application for Accreditation by Testingform.
  4. Your application will be processed by NAATI and your test will be forwarded to the testing centre in the specified location within four (4) to six (6) weeks of processing your application.
  5. The testing centre in your specified location will contact you in regards to the date, time and location of the test within one (1) week of receiving the test from NAATI.
  6. Sit the test. You must sit the test within six (6) weeks of initial contact by the test centre.
  7. Results typically will take 10 to 12 weeks from the date you sit your test.
