Annual Program and Special on Demand Testing
NAATI runs two different sorts of testing, Special On-demand and Annual Program.

NAATI's Annual Testing Program operates over a twelve-month period, commencing in July of each year. A single round of translation and interpreting tests are conducted within the program. Translation tests are held each November and Interpreting tests are held from March to June of each year. The Annual Testing Program is available in Australia and New Zealand only. Tests are designated as: Paraprofessional Translator, Translator, Paraprofessional Interpreter, Interpreter and Advanced Translator.

Candidates who wish to sit for a test outside the Annual Testing Program or if the language they wish to sit for is not available on the program, can apply for a Special On-Demand Test. Special On-Demand tests incur higher fees.

NAATI offers Overseas Testing at various locations outside Australia. These tests are standard accreditation tests at the Translator and/or Interpreter level that are conducted on demand.

Prospective candidates for Annual Program, Special on Demand and Overseas Testing need to submit an Application for Accreditation by Testing.

On application, a payment of the application fee, all candidates are given three opportunities to sit for a test in a particular language and direction. There is a test fee that applies each time a candidate sits a test.
