Professional Development & Training Division of
All Graduates


Conversations: Interpreting and Translating offer a range of training sessions aimed at translators, interpreters and professionals who work with or are involved with services to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. Sessions are delivered live or as online workshops, webinars and on-demand pre-recorded courses.

Q&A panel discussions and interviews facilitated by industry experts are also ran. The panel comprises of T&Is, user client representatives (e.g. hospital language services manager) and All Graduates translations project managers and interpreter coordinators.

Conversations: Lectures

Conversations: Lectures is an international talk series hosted by the All Graduates training division, Conversations: Interpreting and Translating. The series invites T&I academics, students and practitioners, T&I technology companies and other researchers and professionals who work in the CALD sector to discuss their research and works. Each lecture will feature a special guest and will be held at our Melbourne training facilities as well as streamed live online.

Each registration includes includes ongoing access to the short course content, learner support and a certificate on completion. Conversations: Interpreting and Translating has recently launched its online self-paced Healthcare Interpreting and Translating short courses. These short courses are aimed to be practical, so you can apply your newly gained knowledge to your professional life as soon as you complete them. They can also be used to prepare for the NAATI Certified Specialist Health Interpreter Test. Medical knowledge modules are designed and delivered by the Conversations: Interpreting and Translating in-house Medical Education Consultant Dr Bee Yen Ooi (MBBS).

Ethics Scholarships

The Victorian Government, through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), has launched a scholarship program to provide opportunities to the significant proportion of T&I practitioners in Victoria who have not had the opportunity to complete formal Translating & Interpreting training. 

The Ethics Training Scholarship application form is available until all spaces are filled.

Podcasts

Each episode will have a special guest and conversation about current and hot topics related to the T&I industry as well as interpreting and translation related challenges and strategies.

Guests will vary from T&I practitioners across Australia to key figures in the industry as well as expert names in other fields of practice that are intertwined with interpreting and translating.

Ask NAATI

Conversations: Interpreting and Translating Podcast holds regular “Ask NAATI” episodes every three months in which a panel of NAATI managers will answer your questions.

We’re reaching out to translating and interpreting practitioners to submit questions for the next episode using this form. Questions are picked at random and will be put to the panel by a facilitator.
