Approved Courses

NAATI approved courses are tertiary translation and interpreting qualifications (diploma-level or higher) conducted by individual VET and Higher Education institutions that are acknowledged by NAATI as teaching and assessing the skills and knowledge required by the profession.

Where a qualification at an educational institution holds NAATI approval, students who complete the qualification and assessment at the standard required by NAATI may apply for NAATI accreditation without further testing by NAATI.

NAATI approval acts as a quality seal that gives credibility to an institution's course as well as providing a valuable incentive to future students. Currently, there are around 70 approved tertiary qualifications which have led to the awarding over 15 000 accreditations since 2000.

As a result of the Improvements to NAATI Testing (INT) Project, the NAATI approved courses system will change significantly in 2017, into a system with increased integrity and efficiency. Please click here for information about these changes.

NAATI will publish more information in relation to the changes to the approved course system in February 2017.
