NAATI welcomes new Director

The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd (NAATI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitra Khakbaz to the NAATI Board of Directors from 1 December 2016.

Ms Khakbaz is currently an Executive Manager with MDA Ltd and currently oversees regional settlement, employment, community wellbeing, youth settlement, case work and intensive support services.

In announcing this appointment, Chair of the NAATI Board Kerry Stubbs said that “Mitra brings extensive expertise and experience in the multicultural sector and her skills and qualifications will complement the existing Board.”

Ms Stubbs also paid tribute to outgoing Director, Associate Professor Ludmila Stern, “Ludmila has made an outstanding contribution as a Director for over six years and there is no doubt that both NAATI and the industry are better off as a result”.  

“We look forward to her continued engagement with the sector”, Ms Stubbs said.

NAATI CEO Mark Painting said he “is very lucky to have such an experienced and professional Board”.

“Having had the opportunity to meet Mitra and discuss the structure and function of NAATI, I have no doubt she will add further value to the Board” he added.
