Interpreting and Translating Skills Training in Western Australia
Applications are open for a short course at Babel International College for people who want to take a first step on a path to qualification and NAATI certification.
Babel International College (BIC) is a Western Australian registered training organisation (RTO) and a NAATI endorsed qualification provider. BIC's new short course, Foundations in Translating and Interpreting, is delivered face-to-face, in English, by experienced and current translators and interpreters.
The course comprises four units from the Diplomas of Interpreting and Translating. Lectures are twice a week in the evenings over ten contact weeks (70 hours). There are also two Saturday workshops in interpreting practice, and assignment work.
People who complete the course will be eligible to sit a Certified Provisional Interpreter Test with NAATI. Short course graduates will be exempt from NAATI's pre-requisite ethics and intercultural competency tests.
Candidates will be screened for English and LOTE competence.
