Candidates will be immediately disqualified from the test and their test result will not be issued without a refund of the test fee if:

  • They attempt cheating.  
  • There is compelling evidence that they had prior knowledge about test materials.  
  • They breach the confidentiality of test materials. This includes making and/or taking away from the venue copies, paper or electronic, of any test material; taking away from the venue any notes they took during the preparation time or the test; reproducing the test materials; and communicating the test content to other candidates or a third party.
  • They leave the venue before their test is complete.
    • For Certified Interpreter tests, candidates are allowed to leave the venue between the morning and afternoon sessions; however, they are not allowed to leave the venue before they complete the morning or afternoon session respectively.  
  • After completing their test, they leave the test venue and re-enter the venue, including the waiting area and bathrooms, while the test session continues.  
  • After completing their test, they talk to other candidates who are yet to complete the test. 
  • They use or keep with them electronic device(s) that are prohibited for use (e.g. mobile phones, smartwatches and Bluetooth headphones). When candidates check in for the test, they will be asked to turn off the prohibited devices and place them in their bag.  
  • They use any communication or recording function of electronic devices.
  • They use any resources and/or translation software/tools prohibited for use during the test.  
  • They disturb other candidates.  
  • Their behaviour and language are unruly and aggressive to other candidates or NAATI test supervisors.  
  • They fail to follow instructions by supervisors after their first warning.  
  • They are found smoking in the testing venue.
