Language Policy for Interpreting Tests
Language variation and borrowed words
In all languages, speakers from different regional areas or social groups use language differently. This is known as language variation. Speakers also borrow words from other languages into their own language. This is called borrowing. Different languages do this in different ways.
Language variation and borrowing can be confusing for interpreters and translators. NAATI Interpreting Language Policies help you understand how variation and borrowings will be assessed in your test performance.
