The Communicate Study Partnership has announced the release of four new episodes of the award-winning Ask the Specialist podcast created by A/Prof Vicki Kerrigan. The new episodes continue the podcast’s focus on supporting healthcare professionals to provide culturally safe care across the Northern Territory.
This new series is based in Central Australia and features three Aboriginal Specialists: Ken Lechleitner Pangarte, an Anmatjere and Western Aranda intercultural communication expert; Selina Napaltjarri Bob, a Pitjantjatjara preceptor; and Isobel Nampitjinpa Major, a Pintupi-Luritja leader. Hosted by local Arrernte leader Donna Lemon Napaltjarri and intercultural communication educator Mario Faggion, the series was produced by Will Tinapple, with the four episodes exploring practical and important issues including intercultural communication, building trust with Aboriginal patients, understanding kinship and family responsibilities, and maintaining cultural safety within a transient healthcare workforce.
