To apply for a test, you should click the myNAATI button at the top of the page to create an account and submit your application.

Make sure you first read the relevant test information page and the candidate instructions, which contain further details about how to apply.

Test schedule

Our test schedule is set based on the demand for each test, the below is a guide only.

Certification tests

Once every 6 months

Tests are generally run in each language once every 6 months.

Prerequisites tests

IC - 6 times a year
EC - every week

Intercultural Competency tests are run approximately
6 times per year.

Ethical Competency tests are run weekly.

Credentialed Community Language (CCL)

Monthly or at least 4 times a year

Tests are run frequently, with high demand languages tested every month and low demand languages tested at least 4 times per year.

Community Language Aide (CLA)

On demand

Tests are conducted on demand in line with applications received, or the needs of the relevant business or government department.

Online or in-person test?

Most of our tests are delivered online only to allow for equitable access for test candidates. Our online tests use a secure testing platform, with online proctoring (test supervision).

Where there is high local demand, we offer in-person Certified Provisional Interpreter tests as an alternative option.

Due to technical requirements, Auslan tests are held in person only.

In-person tests are offered at one of our 5 state testing locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
