EOI: Technical Reference Advisory Committee

Expression of Interest

We are excited to announce an opportunity to become a member of NAATI’s Technical Reference Advisory Committee (TRAC).

If you want to assist NAATI in the ongoing development of its translating and interpreting policies, have the necessary experience and expertise, then we would like to hear from you.

The Technical Reference Advisory Committee is a key source of advice on technical translating and interpreting (T&I) matters. The role of the TRAC is to provide the NAATI Board and management team with independent advice on policy issues, and ensure NAATI has broad exposure to the wider T&I industry.

TRAC complements the work of NAATI’s management, the network of Regional Advisory Committees (RACs), and other governance committees.

We are currently seeking potential new members to fill future vacancies on the committee and invite applications from suitably qualified candidates who can demonstrate current or recent industry experience, understanding and/or experience in policy development, standard-setting, and assessment.

If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to find out more, contact NAATI’s CEO Mark Painting at mark.painting@naati.com.au.

The closing date for Expressions of Interest is 30 October 2020.

Selection Criteria

The TRAC comprises up to eight members, with expertise in the field of translating and interpreting, selected against the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the NAATI Mission and strategic objectives
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, certifications, and experience
  • Current or recent industry experience in the T&I sector
  • Understanding of, and experience in policy development standard setting and assessment processes and techniques, and
  • Experience in developing and implementing national policies

Members will be appointed for an initial two or three-year term to provide for continuity of membership. Appointed members will not serve more than five consecutive years.

The final composition of the TRAC will have regard to the balance of capabilities, background, and experience within the group as a whole, as well as the size of the committee.

Applicants will be appointed on an individual basis and not as representatives of an organisation or association.

To apply, send your application addressing the selection criteria, along with your CV, to board@naati.com.au
