QLD In-person Workshop: Interprofessional Collaboration in Cross-Cultural Communications

This interactive workshop brings together clinicians and interpreters to enhance interprofessional insights and cultivate best practice collaboration in bilingual healthcare communications. Explore the interplay between language and culture and its relevance to healthcare, incorporating the perspectives of consumers, healthcare professionals, and interpreters.

  • For Health Professionals: Understand how interpreters work & what they need from clinicians to do their best work; how to navigate tricky linguistic, cultural, ethical situations, risk & vicarious trauma… and more.
  • For Language Professionals: Know what to expect in Mental Health/ Drug Alcohol assignments including accuracy, register and tone in therapeutic conversations; terminologies; interpreting the uninterpretable; managing sensitive topics, mental state issues, and vicarious trauma.
